The border-less society.
We live in a brave new world. Illegals are crashing borders and demanding to go to the head of the citizenship lines with the broad stroke of a pin that our forefathers never dreamed of in their philosophies (Horacio.)
The outcries are coming from those who have had to jump the hoops to receive citizenship.
Other outcries are coming from employers who say no one else will take the kind of jobs that the Illegals do.
When I served in the Air Force during the 70’s I met people serving the military on the condition of citizenship from other countries. People have traditionally served our country or went to school and learn our language and passed the civics test, which was the minimum requirement to becoming a recorded citizen. It took time and hard work.
As a youth I have worked in the orchards, bucked hay, picked fruit, knock almonds by hand in young orchards, smudged orchards at 4 a.m. in the morning. I have mowed lawns and worked on construction projects, and I think that is a major segment of the jobs employers are claiming they can’t find labor in.
Your thoughts please….
How Important Is “The Count”
The count: That time of year when we start dreading the route inspections. That time of year when we have to scrutinize every detail, the number of vacant boxes over 90 days, the number of new boxes added since the last route inspection, the number of snowbirds, the time of year, the weather, the mileage, and more.
Then we have to relearn the time standards, the allowable credits in the way of what is and what will not be allowed on “R? time and Mark-Ups. We have to rehash whether or not “Netflicks? will be a letter, flat or parcel.
This crucial time of year to a Rural Carrier determines what his worth is to his family, his coworkers, his relief carriers, his union and the USPS. We have to ask what controls the count, such as the clerks that move the mail, stage the mail redirect the mail, the plant that processes the mail on a mass scale and with a flinch of misdirection, can cause major deficiencies in a Rural Carriers evaluation.
You might say, well it’s his fault that things went wrong, he has been a jerk in the office and deserves to get shorted. I guess that’s the way of it. That’s life.
